Stubben Custom Saddles Sponsors Woodstock Eventing!

Stubben North America is proud to welcome Ryan Wood into our family of Stubben riders!
Ryan will be using the newest Stubben Jumping and Dressage saddles (the Stubben Zaria Euro Custom Jumping and a Genesis NT CL Custom Dressage) on his stable of horses at Woodstock Eventing.

We at Stubben take pride in making sure the horse is comfortable at all times and that the rider is in a balanced position. Ryan has proven himself to be a major competitor and we will work closely with him to make sure the horses are performing at their best.

Be sure to watch for him at many upcoming Events and feel free to ask him about his new Stubben saddles or go to www.Stubbennorthamerica.com to request a Stubben Custom saddle fitting at your barn and try one for yourself.

Another Fantastic Weekend of Eventing at Fair Hill

Trish Gilbert designed challenging and educational courses at all levels and all the horses gained confidence at the event. The cross country was beautifully built by Eric Bull and company,  showing a fantastic presentation. Making these courses look and ride terrifically is a huge effort from the course designers as well as the Fair Hill staff.  As we head in to summer, we pick and choose the events by the footing. Fair Hill has continued to provide superb footing with aeration on both the cross country and show jumping fields. This is greatly appreciated, and never goes unnoticed!

With 2 horses in the Training on Saturday and 7 horses on Sunday, it was a big weekend for us! Not to mention, student Chris Talley made his big move up to Preliminary.
Saturday, the Training horses, Coolum and Life is Good, finished on their dressage scores. Coolum came in fifth overall in a very competitive division finishing on 25.9. Coolum has been sold to an up and coming Young Rider in Canada, and we wish this duo the best. Life is Good, “Henry” also finished top ten, placing 8th on a 33.6.
Sunday was a fast-paced day with 21 rides in 7 hours. The two preliminary horses, Cherish Campbell’s Frankie and the Fernhill Classic Syndicate’s, Fernhill Classic, had their last run before the CCI* at Bromont in a few weeks. Both horses are jumping supremely well. Frankie finished second in OP-A on his dressage score of 35.9 and Classic finished fourth on a 32.2 in a competitive OP-B. We’re heading to Canada off of a great weekend.

The five novice horses were troopers! Two five year olds we imported from Ireland last year, Bennett Creek Farm’s Woodstock Bennett and Ryan’s own Woodstock Wallaby won their Novice divisions on their dressage scores. Carolyn Cadier’s Clapton was third in his second event and first novice, adding a green rail to his dressage score of 24.2.

Grand Traverse continues to show enormous heart, adding two more clear rounds to his flawless show record. Suzanne Cloud’s Coltrane continues to come out better each time.

Last, but certainly not least, we want to send an enormous thank you to the entire Fair Hill crew and volunteers for staying and letting us run our last two horses back to back.   Thank you also to Stacey & working student Jenny for making the weekend run so smoothly!!

Plantation May HT

Magic Replica

Woodstock Eventing had another wonderful event at Plantation this past weekend! We had some of the youngsters and sales horses at the event, with some out for their first event ever! Ryan rode seven in the BN-T divisions, which made for quite a busy day!!

Ryan’s first ride was on Ned Kelly, a 9 year old bay gelding who is owned by Bennett Creek Farm.  Ned ran in the Training division and scored a 31.8 in the dressage, finishing 4th overall.

Working student, Charlotte Collis, rode in the preliminary ending fifth. Charlotte just finished up her spring semester of college, and officially joined the team on Friday. She and her horse Legend jumped around well and are looking forward to the next event!
Then it was on to the dressage for each of the three Novice and three Beginner Novice horses. Ryan rode the three novice horses into the top ten in a competitive Novice Horse division. Mary Hazzard’s Magic Replica scored a 33.9, Susanne Klouds Coltrane had an even 30.00, and sale horse Circulate broke into the 20s on a 28.3.

Clapton, a 4 year old owned by Carolyn Cadier, stepped up to tie for first on a 32 in the dressage at his very first event. Another first timer was George Srawbridge's Kurbat, who scored a 34 in the dressage.

Client Curran Simpson had a super ride on Dday placing 3rd in the training after being chased by a dog from fence 12 on the xc through the finish. Curran was 1 second under optium time and was thankful to the dog for helping pick up the pace!

Here's some footage at the water jump!

The only horse we were not able to catch on video was Kurbat, but we promise to next time!

It can’t go without mentioning how superbly Woodstock Eventing’s groom, Stacey Driscoll, exercise rider Chris Talley, and working student Charlotte Collis kept everything running smoothly and on time at the event. With seven horses in a one day, times get pretty tight, but the team was on top of it! Well done!

We love Plantation Field, not only because it’s in our backyard, but also because the management keeps working hard to make it in to a premier facility. They’ve purchased more land over the last several years, and they opened up dressage rings in a new field this year. The improvements to the footing with the aeration and the mushroom compost have made the galloping lanes on the cross country near, if not absolutely perfect going.   Full Results

We do hope that one day the requirement of signatures for each horse per event is reconsidered.  This is not a requirement in other countries and when you are running so many horses this can become such a burden.  We understand the need for secretaries to have complete entries, but with all the electronic entries these days, signature pages seem to get lost in the shuffle. Instead of charging $50/entry for something we can sign upon check-in, why can't the USEA include this in the yearly registration?   This would make the secretaries’ and participants’ lives so much easier!  We all work tirelessly for this sport we love, and extra fees and more paperwork shouldn’t cloud a picture perfect day of horses galloping across country.

We cannot say it enough, thank you to our hard working staff, our fabulous owners, and the entire Plantation Field team for yet another stupendous event!

See you at Fair Hill this weekend! ~ Ryan, Ali and Crew

MCTA and Visit Our Upcoming Open House

Frankie Stadium MCTA
What a great event with easy going, helpful organizers who made eventing multiple horses a breeze! Saturday I rode 5 horses jumping, 203 fences with out a jumping penalty and all the novice horses finished on their dressage scores!

I took it easy on XC with Frankie and Classic, gaining the experience without the stress of running for time in our lead up to Bromont. Young rider, Chris Talley, finished on his dressage score on the super pony Comanche. Next start prelim! Thanks to Stacy and Ali for the great help this weekend! Next stop Plantation.

After our rides this weekend, stop by 172 Hood Rd on Monday evening the 14th for a tour of our facility, from 6 - 8pm. We're located adjacent to Phillip Dutton's True Prospect Farm, at the old Delaware Equine Facility. Looking forward to seeing you!
