Waredaca Winds Down the Season!

We are coming to the end of the season with Waredaca being our second to last event for the year.

I rode Nimbus and Tito
in their first Novice on Saturday. These two classy 4 year olds, owned by Chimene Evans, stepped up to the plate and jumped around like they had done it all before.

Sunday was a little busier with Chris on 1 and myself riding 4 others.  Summit sport horses had 2 super horses at the competition.  Chris rode Popeye in the Training to finish in 9th place and I rode Powell in the same division to finish on his dressage score for 4th place.

Mary Hazzard's Magic Replica finished a solid 4th in the Prelim, feeling ready for the 1* in Va. next week.

My own horse Sergio jumped faultlessly, finishing 2nd in his Training division.

I also caught a ride for Boyd this weekend as he's been grounded with a broken arm after getting kicked by a horse.
William Street, owned by by Daryl Layfield-Insley, jumped around double clear to finish 10th in the Open Training.

We had an eventful drive home, with Boyd's PT Cruiser losing its front left wheel on 95. Luckily we survived and got picked up by Chris and Mary in the Woodstock Eventing rig.  Never a dull moment!

Great Finish at Fair Hill!

Great way to finish the year on 2 wonderful horses!  Fair Hill is a fantastic event and it didn't disappoint in its 25th year.

Fernhill Classic and Frankie placed 2nd and 9th in the CCI 2 star with both horses finishing on their dressage scores.  There were 69 horses in the 2 star, with only 6 horses finished on their dressage scores!

The xc course was awesome, rewarding positive riding and giving the horses confidence with galloping fences before the combinations, which asked appropriately challenging questions of the horse and rider.

Both Frankie and Classic galloped around the cross country well under the time. My watch popped off around fence 7 in the 2nd minute on Frankie, so I kept a similar pace going to what I felt on Classic, and we came in 7 seconds under the time.

Show jumping is always nerve racking and I was thrilled with both horses jumping faultlessly. Phillip has helped me so much with the jumping and it really showed this weekend.

Firing Up for Fair Hill!!

After a 3 month drought, in true tradition the dry spell ended the week before Fair Hill as the heavens opened and it rained non stop for a week.

Woodstock Eventing headed off to the Maryland Horse Trials, where they did a fantastic job with providing the best possible footing under the circumstances.

Woodstock Wallaby continued to improve at the Prelim level, with a solid dressage score, clear stadium and cross-country round, finishing 5th.

Woodstock Bennett, His Irish counterpart, who is no stranger to this type of weather, showed the same great performance in a different division, finishing second!

Chris Talley rode Ilona English's super pony stallion Popeye to finish a strong 4th on his dressage score in the Training.

Charlotte Collis had a fantastic weekend, jumping clear stadium and XC on both her rides, with Legend finishing 5th in the Prelim and Midas finishing 8th in their first Training together. It has been fun to see Charlotte and Midas grow together, as Charlotte bought Midas as an unbroken 3 year old, and in 2 years they cruised around their first training.

Firing up for Fair Hill this week, hope to see you out there.

Congratulations to Heather Sinclair on the Purchase of Mclovin!

Congratulations to Heather Sinclair on the purchase of Mclovin!

I am lucky enough to keep the ride on this great horse and take him to VA CIC 2 Star in November.
