George Morris Clinic at Bridle Creek Farm

Earlier this week Ryan rode Powell, bred and owned by Ilona English, in the George Morris clinic held at Ilene Boorman's Bridle Creek Farm, where Boyd is based during the winter months.    George is The Master of being correct and classical, and this clinic was no exception.   It was a great clinic, where George had all the riders take the time to focus on perfection.

Here are several video clips of Ryan's day on Powell.

Allie Conrad was an auditor at the George Morris clinic at Boyd Martin's Aiken, S.C., base, Bridle Creek Farm on Feb. 24-25. She put together a great photo album paired with "Georgisms" for The Chronicle of the Horse.

I also rode Heather and Bob Sinclair's Mclovin in the Intermediate, jumping clear XC and SJ with adding just a bit of time to finish 10th.

Curran and Margy Simpson's Woodstock Bennett placed 3rd in the Prelim, jumping clear SJ and XC as well.

Linda and Mark Ledray's Woodstock Wallaby also jumped faultlessly around the Prelim, adding time XC to finish 7th.

Here's some great video coverage of all of them in SJ and XC.

No Power But Still Another Day in Paradise!!

We had a great weekend despite being on day 6 without power!  The Paradise team pulled together and ran a great event! We took 7 horses, with every horse jumping clear XC.

Jordan Thompson won the Prelim on her Canadian sport horse Femme Fatale.

Mary Hazzard's Magic Replica was 3rd in the Prelim, jumping a clear and fast XC round.

Summit Sporthorses had 2 horses competing with me: Illiniza was 6th in the Prelim finishing double clear XC and Powell lead from start to finish adding no penalties to his dressage score of 25 to win the Open Training.

First Run Of The 2014 Season at Pine Top!

Classic, Frankie and Mclovin were all competitive in the dressage phase, all show jumped clear and were clear XC, only adding time to their score.  The plan is always to work back from our goal to get established at the level without pushing the limits, then unleashing at the big events when it counts.

It was a great first event and we're looking forward to stepping it up to Advanced in 2 weeks when we're back at Pine Top!

5 Horses at Sporting Days!

We took 5 horses to Sporting Days this past weekend with 3 in the Prelim and 2 Training horses.  All horses were clear in the show jumping and cross country.

I rode Linda and Mark Ledray's Woodstock Wallaby to 3rd in the Prelim.

Curran and Margy Simpson's Woodstock Bennett got robbed in the dressage, but finished strong jumping with out any faults.

Mary Hazzard's Magic Replica was on form, adding just .4 of a time penalty to his score.

My own Shannondale Sergio showed he is a horse to hang onto and produce for the future, having so much ability.

Finally Jordan Thompson showed her class mare Femme Fatale finishing on her dressage score placing 4th in the training.

At home, Classic continues to show great form schooling!
