A Stellar Richland Park!!

Catching Up with Ryan Wood at Richland

Thank you so much to Ryan Wood for stopping to chat at the end of a long, busy day, and on the eve of cross country day at Richland. Ryan is back in the saddle since breaking his collarbone just before Bromont, and has brought his string of lovely, young horses up to Michigan as part of his fall campaign heading to Fair Hill.

Since leaving Australia, Ryan told me he visited Paul Tapner in England, but ultimately decided to base himself in America, in no small part due to Phillip Dutton’s support and Boyd Martin’s encouragement. It would seem that it was a sensible choice, as so far so good horse wise, business wise, definitely girlfriend-wise, and we’d like to extend him a huge EN congratulations on buying a house last week! Go Woodstock Eventing and Go Ryan Wood!

Thanks so much to Samantha and EN for this fabulous interview, and if you've been glued to Event Entries for the results all weekend, you'll know Ryan and crew had a stellar weekend!!  Highlights of his weekend include a 4th place finish on Frankie and an 8th place finish on McLovin in a tightly contested CIC 2* division with over 50 entries!!  D-day and Ryan also brought home a 3rd place finish in the Open Prelim division.

Once Woodstock Eventing has settled safely back in Pa, we expect to have more news from Ryan.  Until then.......go Woodstock Eventing!!!

Big Weekend at Fair Hill!

This past weekend we took 8 horses to Fair Hill, with 2 wins, 2 seconds, 1 third, 2 eights and a 14th place!
Illiniza and Powell

Ilona English (Summit Sport Horses) had 4 horses with us at Fair Hill.  Illiniza lead the Training from start to finish on a 29, adding nothing to her dressage score. Powell was 2nd in the other Training division also finishing on his dressage score of a 28!

Grand Traverse was 8th in the Prelim division, having another solid run at this level, and

Chris rode Popeye around his first Training to finish 14th.

Curran and Margy Simpson (Bennett's Creek farm) own Woodstock Bennett, who won his second Prelim in a row at just his third Prelim start!

Linda and Mark Ledray's Woodstock Wallaby got the score of 25 and just added a couple of time penalties to finish 2nd in his third prelim!

Mary Hazzard's spotted beauty, Magic Replica, got a PB in the dressage, had a couple of rails in stadium, but then jumped around the XC clear and under the time to place 8th.

It was a big weekend for Woodstock Eventing!  A huge thank you is due to Stacy for all her hard work, keeping the team together and bringing home the blue!

A Great Return To Millbrook!

Woodstock had our first Millbrook after 5 years in the USA and the weekend didn't disappoint.  With over 500 entries and close to 40 horses in the Intermediate division the competition was tough!

I had 4 horses in the Intermediate division Steve and Karri Guy's Frankie was his fabulous self finishing 7th jumping clear XC and SJ!  Julia and George's Mclovin stepped up to the plate on his 2nd Intermediate, also jumping clear XC and SJ to finish 7th in the other Intermediate division.

Fernhill Classic is the scopiest horse I have ever ridden, eating up the XC in the fastest time of my rides placing 16th out of 39. It was fantastic to have syndicate owner Doug Nieters cheering us on at Millbrook!

Curran Simpson's Dday smoked the dressage with a 26!   We had an unfortunate moment on XC with 4 jumps to go when I got spat out of the tack, but had a soft landing in my Hitair vest.
Dday has a big win in his sights, looking forward to our next event.
Frankie After His Clear SJ Round!

Charlie rode Roosevelt to a T, going clear and under the time on XC, but was let down on the final day with a few rails in the SJ.

Curran had 2 horses going over the weekend with the youngest horse in BCF Fernhill Flame, who made the Training look effortless, and the oldest horse, Idealized (aka The Grey Ghost) jumping double clear in the Novice!

Next start is Fairhill then to Richland Park.
Cheers, Ryan
