Big Weekend at Va Horse Trials!

Powell
Big week at VA HT with 5 horses competing.

Classic was in the Advanced Intermediate and performed a solid test scoring a 36, with 1 rail in stadium and an uncharacteristic stop at an up-bank out of the water.  After 4 horses stopped at this they added a ground line to help horses read the bank better, which seemed to fix the problem.

I also rode 5 horses in the Prelim who all jumped clear in stadium and on cross country!
Mark and Linda Ledray's Woodstock Wallaby was 2nd.
Curran and Margy Simpson's Woodstock Bennett 7th.
Summit Sporthorses' Powell 3rd and Illiniza was 5th.

Curran also charged around the prelim with Fernhill Flame, looking like they are on track for a 1 star next year!

Perfect Eventing Conditions at Fair Hill!

We had perfect eventing conditions this past weekend at Fair Hill!  I rode 7 horses over the weekend, with all horses jumping clear around the cross country.

Saturday I rode Curran Simpson's Dday in the Training, winning the dressage, jumping clear with a few time penalties on XC to finish in fourth place.  It was great to have him back competing after 7 months on the bench.

Dday with a 9 on the centerline!

I also rode my own Shannondale Sergio in the Training, placing 2nd and finishing on his dressage score of 27.

Sunday I rode 5 novice horses.  Summit Sporthorses' Ruby won her division, finishing on her dressage score of 23!

Ruby's Game Face

Sarah Hughes' Cobra also won his division on a 23, jumping a clear stadium and XC.

Mindy Wyan's Caleb won the dressage on a low score of 20 in the dressage, and had an unlucky rail in stadium to finish 2nd.

Curran Simpson's Teddy Sarco jumped around the novice track with ease with this being his 3rd time out finishing on a 34.

My own Woodstock Classic Rock had his first event after being a fox hunter - he showed a lot of class finishing on his dressage score of 28 to place 5th.

Charlie rode Shannondale Nimbus to a double clear around his 3rd consecutive event, this pair have yet to incur a jumping penalty at competition.

Jordan had a great run with her mare Frenchy, cruising around XC to finish 5th.

Finally Charlotte rode legend and Midas, having a solid weekend with Legend placing 6th in the prelim and Midas 12th in the training.

Thank you Steve Berkowitz for the great photos and the cheese burger!

Moving Up At Jersey Fresh

Classic in the Jersey Fresh CIC 3*
After years of consistent and hard work, this is the season in which Woodstock Eventing will bump up many of the horses to the international level.  We're thrilled with the horses who have transitioned to the CIC and CCI levels, and who are showing some serious potential for the future.  With that said, Jersey Fresh put on a tough track this year, which saw some challenges for many competitors.  Overall, Ryan was very pleased with the weekend's results.

Classic Stadium
Classic finished his first CIC 3 star in 16th place, which was a big ask being only his 3rd Advanced run of his career.  He felt really good around the big technical track, having a glance off a narrow jump at 18B, but still successfully completing!  Next up - Bromont CCI 2* next.

McLovin Aka Razz
McLovin
Mclovin,  who is owned by Heather and Bob Sinclair, was having a great round before we parted company on the 4th to last jump.  Razz is a super horse with serious upper level potential.  This, as well, was his first CCI 2*, and he has the potential to excel at this level.  We will give him a small break before bringing him back out at the Intermediate level this summer, aimed at the fall Fair Hill 2*.

JF Live Results

It was great to have the Classic Syndicate and Mclovin's owners out supporting us all weekend.  Many thanks go out to Bob Sinclair for all these great photos!

An Early And Productive MCTA

We had an early and productive 3 am start for the team this past Saturday morning, with 5 horses competing in the preliminary division and completing all 3 phases by 12 noon!

We had a great event at MCTA, where I rode a super string of young horses in the prelim division, with every horse performing brilliantly.

Fernhill Classic - 7th

Classic jumped great and finished 7th, using MCTA as his schooling run before heading to this weekend's 3 star at Jersey Fresh.

Summit Sporthorses' Powell scored an impressive 19.1 in the Dressage, going onto take the win his division after jumping fantastically!

Powell Takes The Win!

Illiniza, also owned and bred by Summit Sporthorses, finished 8th after cruising around the XC clear and fast!

Illiniza Finishes 8th

Curran and Margy Simpson's Woodstock Bennett took the lead after dressage, and had an unlucky rail to finish in 3rd place.

Bennett Finishes 3rd

Linda and Mark Ledray's Woodstock Wallaby produced 3 great phases to finish in 3rd place.

The event organizers did a very good job allowing us to run the horses when we were ready, making the day that much easier!

Thank you to Aileen Elliot for the fabulous photos!
