Ryan & Fernhill Flame visit sponsor Amanda, owner of Purvida Healthy Horse.
Woodstock Eventing made the journey south to Aiken, South Carolina at the beginning of January for the winter season. They were met with warm, sunny weather, and then winter arrived. Despite a light dusting of snow and freezing temperatures, Ryan and his team were excited to be back out competing at the first event of 2022.
Ryan rode a total of five over the weekend at Stable View's Aiken Opener Horse Trial. Mary Hazzard’s Chusinmyconfession scored a 33.4 in dressage, added zero penalties in show jumping and only a few time penalties on cross country to finish 12th in Open Preliminary A. In the Preliminary Horse division, Linda Ledray’s Checkpoint was tied for 1st after dressage on a 27.9. He had an unlucky rail down in show jumping and went conservatively on cross country incurring a few time penalties to finish 3rd. Curran Simpson’s Cooley Continental also competed in the Preliminary Horse division. He scored a 35 in dressage, jumped a lovely clear show jumping round, and had an educational go on cross country to finish 6th.
Ryan piloted syndicate owned, Bellavista and Curran Simpson’s Fernhill Flame around the Training level courses. Bellavista scored a 26.7 in dressage, had a rail down in show jumping, and galloped boldly around cross country to finish 4th in Open Training A. Fernhill Flame scored a 27.5 in dressage for 3rd place. He maintained his position with clear rounds both in show jumping and cross country to finish 3rd in Training Horse. Last but not least, Assistant Rider, Maya Chinana rode Ilona S. English’s Popstar to a 3rd place finish in the Open Beginner Novice division. Maya and Popstar finished on a score of 31.1.
Next, Woodstock Eventing will compete at Sporting Days Farm on February 5th. Click here to follow live scoring updates on the day.
