Ryan Rides with Joe Fargis

This week I was lucky enough to take part in a clinic tought by champion show jumper Joe Fargis. I rode Caesar a  Holsteiner/TB Gelding, owned by Bonnie Wallace (who is also for sale on my website).

The Clinic went for over two hours & focused on position and correct use the of aids.
So often I get caught up in how the horse is going, being very correct in my position on the horse is a secondary thought. It was excatly what I was hoping to get out of the clinic and more. There were 6 of us in the session, Caitlin Silliman, Boyd Martin, Kevin Keane, Lillian Heard, Leigh Berman and myself.

We spent the first 45 minites in walk and trot until we progressed enough to canter and jump. We worked on getting the horses balanced and correct through the turns before approaching the fence.
Joe is a real horseman working with the horse not against him. I am now riding thinking about keeping my "shoulder blades in my back pocket".
