Virginia Horse Trials International

Woodstock Eventing had an excellent weekend competing at the Virginia Horse Center and Ryan rode six horses in the HT and FEI divisions. Four of the horses had their final prep before heading to Bromont in Canada, and two of them were ridden for Erin Sylvester who unfortunately had a fall at home and was unable to ride. It was a pleasure to compete her excellent horses and we wish her a speedy recovery.

In a large 30 horse CIC2* division, Woodstock Bennett owned by Curran and Margy Simpson performed a beautiful dressage test to score 47.5, had one unlucky rail in show jumping, and confidently jumped a clean cross-country round to finish in 7th place. Woodstock Wallaby, owned by Mark Hartsch and Linda Ledray laid down a very respectable dressage test, had one rail in show jumping, and also jumped boldly and clean on cross country to finish close behind his stablemate in 10th place. These two horses will look to contest the CCI2* at Bromont and are feeling ready to go.

Ryan also rode Fernhill Classic owned by the Fernhill Classic Syndicate, and McLovin owned by Bob and Heather Sinclair in the Advanced/Intermediate division. Both Classic and McLovin tried hard in all three phases and confidently jumped around a difficult cross-country track to finish in 2nd and 3rd place. Both horses will now prepare to compete in the CCI3* at Bromont.

In the Intermediate, Ryan competed Mettraise owned by Erin Sylvester, and Campground who is ridden by Erin and owned by Marnie Kelly. Mettraise is a lovely mare and they jumped a double clean show jumping round and clean cross country round to finish in 9th place. Campground had a few rails in show jumping but also jumped a great clear cross country round and finished in 17th place.
