Woodstock Eventing's Young Horses Deliver Top Placings

Tullabeg Dilson
Woodstock Eventing's young horses were out in full force and delivered top finishes during the second week of back to back competition at The Maryland Horse Trials II and CIC */**. It was a busy day for the Woodstock Eventing Team with Ryan riding 7 novice level horses across 4 divisions during the one-day competition.

Dr. Kevin Keane's HH Ontario led the Open Novice-A division from start to finish on his impressive dressage score of 22.1. He clinched the win in the 14 horse field and has a very promising future ahead of him. Ryan also rode Julia Strawbridge's Insuspense in his second novice level debut. Insuspense delivered a beautiful test to score a 25.5 and jumped double clear to finish 4th on his dressage score.

In Open Novice-B, Curran Simpson's Tullabeg Dilson scored a 34.1 in dressage and finished 2nd just less than a point ahead of Amy Peloquin's Shannondale Julius and Summit Sporthorses' Eiffel. Julius and Eiffel each delivered solid dressage tests to earn a score of 35. Both horses jumped beautiful clear rounds and the tie was broken by Julius crossing the finish line on cross-country closer to the optimum time. It was a fantastic competition for both horses and they finished 3rd and 4th respectively.

Mary Hazzard's five-year-old Thoroughbred mare Mystic Hazzard made her eventing debut. She earned a 26.9 in dressage, jumped a bravely around cross-country, and had only one rail down in showjumping to finish 8th at her first competition. Julia Strawbridge's The Optimist moved up the leaderboard after his double clear jumping rounds to finish on his dressage score of 25.5 in 2nd place in the Open Novice-D division.

Ryan will be traveling to teach at several clinics around the country over the next few months. Up next, he will be in Maple Grove, Minnesota for a clinic at Wildwood Farm.
