Ryan and Bennett on cross country. |
It was a successful weekend for Woodstock Eventing at one of summer's last competitions on the calendar. New York's Millbrook Horse Trials put on a great event and the horses were able to begin gearing back up for bigger and long-format events on the horizon.
The Woodstock Bennett Syndicate’s Woodstock Bennett stretched his legs in his first full competition back at the Advanced level. Bennett was in top form all weekend long. After scoring a respectable 35.9 in dressage he continued to move up the leaderboard after jumping a clear show jumping round and accumulating only a handful of time penalties on cross country. His solid performance earned him a 12th place finish in a competitive field of 52 horses, a fantastic result in his first competition back at level.

The young horses delivered top 5 finishes in their respective divisions. In Open Training-A, Ryan rode Julia Strawbridge's The Optimist to a 3rd place finish on his dressage score of 30.2. Following only 1.1 points behind was syndicate owned Cooley By Design who finished 4th on his dressage score of 31.1. In Open Training-B, Julia Strawbridge's Carmella performed a beautiful dressage test to score a 26.1 and added no penalties to her score to finish 4th. Ryan was pleased with each horse’s performance and is looking forward to much more success with this talented group in the future. Annie Dewitt was 2nd in the Beginner Novice with her new Irish import Offshore Cooley and Grace Wilson had a solid run with her new horse in the Training division!
