Last weekend, Woodstock Eventing traveled to the Kentucky Horse Park to compete at the 2019 American Eventing Championships with four top-class horses. Each horse had a solid run and overall great performance against the nation’s best.
The Woodstock Bennett Syndicate’s Woodstock Bennett delivered a solid performance in the Advanced Championship to earn a 33.8 in dressage and jumped clear cross-country with 19.6 time penalties. The Advanced show jumping was delayed due to a large storm that rolled through the Horse Park. Ryan opted to withdraw Bennett from the show jumping and save his legs for another day.
Julia Strawbridge’s Carmella and Linda Ledray's Cooley Flight were great in the Preliminary Horse division. Both horses jumped double-clear cross-country to finish in 21st and 23rd place respectively. In the Training Horse Championship, Julia Strawbridge’s The Optimist came home as Reserve Champion! The Optimist was foot perfect across all three phases and finished the weekend on his dressage score of 31.4 and in 2nd place out of 42 horses.
Ryan and his team are looking forward to more big events. Coming up in two weeks, Woodstock Eventing will be competing at their first international event of the fall season, Plantation Field International Horse Trials!
