That’s a wrap on the last competition of 2019! Thanks to his hard working team, Ryan was able to travel to Florida to compete at the Ocala Jockey Club International CCI4*-L with his new ride Rembrandt. Rembrandt is a top class horse for the future and showed his talent this past weekend.
Ryan’s and Rembrandt’s partnership began in early September. This was the 11-year-old syndicate-owned Thoroughbred-Holsteiner gelding’s second attempt at the level, and Ryan’s fourth time riding him in competition. Rembrandt put in a solid effort in dressage to score a 39.2 and the pair sat in the middle of the pack going into cross country. Rembrandt galloped easily around the tough track but, unfortunately, had an uncharacteristic runout early on in the course at 4B. They continued around the course, making easy work of areas where other combinations had trouble. On Sunday, Chris Barnard’s tricky show jumping course on turf caused the poles to fall. Ryan and Rembrandt had two unlucky rails and only two riders went double clear out of 22 total combinations. Rembrandt has all the makings of a 5* horse and Ryan is looking forward to continuing to grow their partnership.
