Ryan finished out 2019 in a big way this past weekend by besting a field of 35 to win the VHT International CCI2*-L for the second consecutive year aboard Ruby! Ruby is a 10-year-old Oldenburg owned and bred by Ilona English. Not only was this Ryan’s and Ruby’s second consecutive long format win at the VHT, but it was also their second two-star victory this year. Earlier in the year, the pair won the CCI2*-S at The Fork in Tryon.
The pair began their weekend tied at the top of the leaderboard after scoring a 29.5 in dressage. Their clear and fast cross country round put them the closest to the optimum time. On Sunday, they clinched the win with a flawless show jumping round. Ryan spoke to the press about his weekend, “I’m very proud to ride for Ilona English. To breed a horse and get it to an international level is one thing, but then to win is pretty awesome.”

Newly syndicated Rembrandt also took home the blue in the Advanced/Intermediate division. Ryan and Rembrandt scored a 35.2 in dressage, had a single rail down in showjumping, and delivered a foot perfect cross country round. Ryan is looking forward to an exciting future with this talented horse.
