Woodstock Eventing had a successful Saturday competing Ronald Zabla-Goetschel's Dukes Sunny Boy and four horses for owner Julia Strawbridge at Plantation Field June Horse Trials. In the Open Preliminary, Ryan rode Julia Strawbridge’s thoroughbred gelding Zempat to an 8th place finish. Zempat scored a 39.8 in dressage and only added a single rail in show jumping to his final score.
Julia Strawbridge’s Carmella had a great showing in Open Training-A. Carmella tied for 3rd after dressage on a 29.8 and delivered great rounds both in cross country and show jumping to finish 2nd. Julia Strawbridge also competed in the Open Training-A division riding Balmoral Oakey. Julia and Balmoral Oakey finished in 4th on their dressage score of 32.6.
In Open Training-B, Ryan rode Ronald Zabla-Goetschel’s Dukes Sunny Boy and Julia Strawbridge’s The Optimist. It was Ryan’s first time riding Dukes Sunny Boy in competition and the pair delivered a solid performance in all three phases to finish 2nd on their dressage score of 27.6. The Optimist also finished in the top 5 and came home with a 4th place finish on his dressage score of 29.8.
Assistant rider, Nicole Etheridge rode Summit Sporthorses’ Popstar in the Open Novice division. Nicole and Popstar scored a 29.3 in dressage and finished the event in 6th place. Also competing in the same division, Ryan rode Ascot Girl owned by Julia Strawbridge to a 13th place finish on a dressage score of 42.6. Team member, Annie DeWitt had a great showing in the Open Beginner Novice division with her own Offshore Cooley. Annie and Offshore Cooley scored a 28.3 in dressage and finished on that score in 3rd place.
