Big Bucks Followed Up by Roller Coaster Thrills!

It was a Big Sunday at Bucks County HP!

We took 6 horses, doing 4 different tests and XC courses with every horse finishing on their dressage score.  That's 184 jumps without one fault!

We had wins with Ned Kelly and Life is Good. GT and Magic stepped up to the plate for their first training level event for a 6th and 7th. Clapton and Lilly both placed 6th in very competitive divisions as well.

Bucks is a great event for the young horses to get out and gain experience and the event organizers did a fabulous job fitting in all my rides.

For a mid year motivator team Woodstock spent Monday afternoon thrill seeking at Hershey Park.  It was proven that the girls have stronger stomachs then the guys.......

A Spectacular Event at Bromont!

What a spectacular event we experienced last weekend at Bromont! The venue, the people, the organizers and the town make Bromont my favorite event to attend.

Frankie and Fernhill Classic competed in their first CCI*, which was an eye opener for both horses with the immense atmosphere, the large crowds and the colorful and challenging course design.  The xc course was difficult but fair, and the horses gained confidence as they went around.

I think Bromont is a great step in introducing a young horse to international eventing and making the move up to 2* level next year will be much more inviting. Frankie finished on his dressage score of 59 to place 14th out of 56 horses and Classic added 8 green penalties in the show jumping to his final score to place 17th.  Out of the 56 horses in the CCI*, only 8 finished on their dressage score!

Thanks to Kate Chadderton for contributing this XC footage.

It was awesome to see Caitlin and Catch A Star cruise around their first CCI3* for a 5th place finish and they were awarded best conditioned at the conclusion of the event as well.  That is quite a testimonial to Caitlin and her amazing dedication the the rehabilitation of Hoku.  What a team and what a come back!

Many thanks to our friends at Horse Junkies for sending us this great article & video!!

It takes a village to keep an eventing team going, and we are so appreciative of all our supporters.
Thank you to Stacy who did an awesome job grooming for both Classic and Frankie. (It was her first three-day experience as well!)

And to the owners: Frankie's owner, Charish Campbell, and Classic's owners, Linda Ledray, Jill Collis, Mark Dewis, Michelle Huber, you are instrumental in making all of this possible.

To our sponsors: Stubben, Kentucky Horsewear, Equine Comfort Products, and Bill's Khakis, thank you for keeping our horses (and myself) outfitted in the best equipment to ensure optimum performance.

It was also wonderful to see the Aiken gang from Bridle Creek showing us all the support Linda, Mark, Ken and Peg! Overall, Bromont was a fantastic way to end our Spring campaign and kick off the summer season!

Bucks County is this weekend with the young horses then we're off to the Minnesota Clinic.
Cheers,
Ryan

Bills Khakis is Proud To Support Ryan Wood

Bills Khakis is proud to support Ryan in all of his equestrian pursuits. We recognize that all equestrians must look polished in and out of the tack, so Bills Khakis is happy to outfit Ryan for his upper level jogs!
We've decked out Ryan for the Bromont jog & think he looks quite classic in his new blue blazer, 5 pocket pants, summer gingham shirt and knit tie!  Frankie and Classic are also looking the part as well.

Ryan and Frankie
Thank you Horse Junkies for the Photo Contribution!
Bill Thomas, founder of Bills Khakis, also happens to be the husband of Lisa Thomas of Mid-Atlantic Equestrian Services. Bill founded Bills Khakis over 20 years ago when he found a pair of original World War II khakis at an Army surplus store while he was in college. They were remarkably comfortable, deep pocketed, and put together to withstand just about anything. Someone had to save this small but symbolic piece of Americana.

With a few thousand dollars and a dozen or so part time jobs (including greens crew, painting a covered bridge, ski lift operator, sporting goods salesman, freelance writer, and rock & roll band promoter), the business slowly grew from a "trunk of the car" start-up to a full time enterprise which is now in over 500 select men's specialty stores. All products, including pants, shorts, jeans, shirts and jackets are produced in the United States.

Both Ryan and Bill share the same work ethic, and we're proud to stand behind Woodstock Eventing!
Good luck this weekend at Bromont.....we'll be cheering you on all the way.

Follow Ryan throughout the weekend on the Bromont website!
